Marissa Alexander has been sentenced to 20 years in prison. Marissa is the victim here. Her husband beat her while she was pregnant. After yet another beating, Alexander fired a warning shot which traveled through a wall and into the ceiling. That shot saved her life. Prosecutor Angela Corey did not take into account that Marissa Alexander:
Had a court injunction against her crazed husband,Had Given Birth 9 Days Earlier,Was trained to use a weapon and earned a concealed weapons permit.
The discrepancy of a law, again disfavors the African-American people. The system wants to ignore the acts of a white-hispanic man, but wants to keep behind bars a Black woman who was violated, and did not kill anyone!!!!
Marissa was in court yesterday for a pre-sentencing hearing. The judge decided to move the hearing to next Monday, April 30. This will allow the defense the ability to present all of their arguments on why Marissa deserves another trial.
The two cases you are discussing are not even slightly similar. The mandatory minimum sentence law should be the issue here. She was mad, wanted him out of her house, walked by escape routes and walked back into the situation and fired a shot. Definately not self defense or stand your ground. Zimmerman the so-called made up race of white hispanic, shot as he was being attacked and in the middle of an immediate struggle. Instead of answering a simple question Trayvon attacked and in self defense was shot. Zimmerman isn't white and the minimum mandatory sentence is the problem here, not race. The problem is everyone gets disgusted when you twist this to be about race.
@Mike You're talking like a prosecutor. Marissa was not mad, she was assaulted in the bathroom. She tried to escape in her vehicle through the garage. When she couldn't leave through the garage, she had no choice but to re-enter the home. She never had the opportunity to make it another exit door. Her husband charged at her when she was at the kitchen door leading to the garage. She was never mad, she was scared. The arresting office said that. I never said this was about race, but I can't prevent people from having their own opinion.
This is a perfect case for the Stand Your Ground Law if I ever heard one. She didn't even shoot this ideot, unlike Zimmerman. She needs to be set free immediately.
More than just asking for justice, we need to start calling for these public officials' jobs! This makes no sense! Even when/if she is released, what about the damage done to her life because of this? I'm tired of the nonsense!
I suggest that Mrs. Alexander follow the same route that Trayvon's attorney took. Contact MSNBC and share her story with them, I guarantee that several women's and civil rights organizations will get involved immediately.
This young lady deserves justice. She was defending her life and her u.unborn baby!! FREE Marissa Alexander. This is not skittles and tea, this is a woman protecting herself and her baby. JUSTICE FOR MARISSA!! MARIE MICHELLE COX
I simply cannot believe this. If this story is accurate from this woman's viewpoint, this is beyond injustice. I just became aware if this tonight on Andersin Cooper and I hope this will do more than raise eyebrows. She didn't even harm a hair on his head! WTF?? I will stay on top of this story and pray for justice for Marissa.
Stop the injustice by allowing a retrial for Marissa Jackson!!! Her gun was registered, no one died so WHY is she facing imprisonment?
ReplyDeleteWas Corey her prosecutor as well?
ReplyDeleteNo, she assigned the case to one of her ADA's

I guess if she had killed him, she would be free. What a bunch of bs.
